INSTALLING EMBARK ON A MAC COMPUTER
- Download the installation files here and save them as a zip file on your computer:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/rxyfba5j6utf0zf/AAAvv7LLWPkD0gpnZDqj2yXLa?dl=0 - Find where you saved them, likely the Downloads folder.
- Double-click the zip file and unpack it and double-click on the EmbARK Installer.dmg file.
- Walk through the setup. You can accept the default choices.
- If the Mac tells you that it is an unidentified developer, click OK and then click on the Apple icon in the upper left screen.
- Go down to SYSTEM PREFERENCES and find this icon:
- There you need to either click the “OPEN ANYWAY”button below or click the lock to make changes in the lower left and select “Anywhere” under “Allow apps downloaded from:” (Later when done come back and change this to its default pictured below.)
- Now the Embark installation should run through to completion.
- Then you can tell it where to find the custom data file. It will prompt you with this:
- You can navigate to the ArtCart9.4dd file you downloaded.
IF IN THE STEP ABOVE YOU ACCIDENTALLY CLICKED CREATE INSTEAD OF OPEN, HERE ARE INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO OPEN OUR CUSTOM FILE:
If you are getting asked for a registration number, you selected to create a new data file instead of open an existing one. To fix this, do the following:
1- Click cancel in the image above and close out the Embark program completely in the upper left corner of the program.
2- Find the EmbARK icon to launch the application in your Applications folder.
3- Hold down the OPTION/ALT key on the keyboard and keep it held as you double-click the Embark application icon. This will force the application to give you a choice on which data file to open. See the image attached.
.
4- Choose the option “Select another data file” and then “Continue”.
5- Now you can navigate to the custom data file you downloaded from us, the one named ArtCart9.4dd.
6- When you do that right, you will prompted with a window to login and all you do is type “fellow2” in the last name field and leave the others blank.
7- Then you will see the rose colored splash screen on page 4 of the handout under Getting Started.
