Claude L. Elliott, retired from Step Afrika! as Deputy Director. Prior to moving to Washington, DC he was a Program Officer with the Rhode Island Foundation where he managed a fund for the creation of New Works and fellowships for visual artists, writers, and music composers. Under his leadership the Expansion Arts Program was restructured to provide both technical assistance and grants to strengthen the capacity of culturally diverse organizations. As Assistant Curator of Prints, Drawings and Photographs at the RISD Museum in 2000 he organized the exhibition Pressing On: The Graphic Art of Wilmer Jennings which traveled to Clark Atlanta University in 2001. Elliott has a Master of Arts in Art History from the University of Mississippi.
