Pamela Harris Lawton, a practicing artist, is an Associate Professor of Art Education at Virginia Commonwealth University. She holds a B.A. in Studio Art and Sociology, an MFA in Printmaking and an EdDCT in Art Education. Her research interests include community-based service learning and transformative learning through art and intergenerational art education. In addition to teaching art at the high school level, she has served as Director of Art Education at the Corcoran School of the Arts + Design/George Washington University and on the art education faculty at the Bank Street College of Education; Tyler School of Art, Temple University; and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Lawton was also a Public Art Commissioner for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg, NC area. She is a member and past president of NAEAs Lifelong Learning affiliate.
