Hi everyone! My name is Shanell Kitt, and I am an abstract/ mixed-media artist from the Bronx, NY. I'm currently a second-year graduate student at the Howard University School of Social Work, focusing on mental health and direct practice. I have interests in promoting mental health wellness through creativity, and encouraging college access for people (specifically high school students) in underserved communities. I've been painting since January 2014, and my art collection is entitled "Kittsp Art" (a conjunction of my last name and initials). I believe art is a beautiful form of self-expression, and I try to spread that message to everyone I encounter! I'm very excited about the opportunity to learn more about aging artists, and I look forward to being an Art Cart: Saving The Legacy Fellow for the 2015 - 2016 academic year.
